The Live MotorsTV footage of Pembrey is now available! The CSL Cup series is finally starting to grow, a couple of cars had to drop out due to not being ready in time but we welcomed two new drivers in Richard Mallinson and Kevin Clarke. Richard usually drives his E36 M3 in the Kumho Championship but the lure of slick tyres proved too much. Kevin was in his E46 GTR which won the Production class of the Britcar Championship last season as his new E92 M3 (similar to the Tesco Momentum 99 Racing one) wasn’t ready in time, both added extra names and colour to the grid. Also of note was the single car team of Mark and Adam now becoming a two car team, Expect two bright orange cars on the Pembrey grid.

A bit of a disaster for Nick, straight out into practice and the throttle motor failed meaning he had to limp the car round for three laps just to qualify at the back of the grid, Mark on the other hand performed well and got P3 just behind Dan Stringfellow and Kevins GTR (which was competing in the invitation class). Richard did an excellent job getting his older E36 M3 to just behind Mark and barely a second covered Russell, Mark and Adam with Steve Gill filling the gap. Race 1 What a fantastic race, Nick got off to a raring pace from the back of the grid and was soon fighting Mark Steward lap after lap, no team orders at Tesco Momentum 99 Racing thats for sure and lap after lap they came round the final corner with barely an inch between them, Nick eventually go past at the hairpin. Up front Dan and Kevin had a race long fight with Dan’s E46 nearly a match for Kevin’s GTR but in the end the Open class car powered away with great style. In 5th and 6th Richard Mallinson had a great fight trying to keep ahead of Steve Gills Schirmer built E46 but had to settle just behind the Scot and Mark Radcliffe spent his entire race staring at his wing mirrors and Russell Fosters car spent the entire race never more than 3” from his rear bumper, really excellent to watch. Race 2 With Steve Gill sitting out to allow Andy Walsh a drive in his car as a guest it was always going to be interesting. Andy has a long history of racing so it would be interesting to see what he did in Steves car. The answer was win, and pretty well, powering from the back Andy managed to get past most of the field before being stopped by Kevin’s rampant Open Class car who scored an emphatic second win. Nick Foster collected up third (which was effectively another win as Andy and Kevin were guest and open class cars respectively) who then capitalised on a very rare mechanical failure from Dan Stringfellow (the first time he’s been away from the top 3 since the series began!) who suffered a DNF due to his gearbox seizing in second gear. It was another eventful race for Russell and Mark both fought all race long with Adam and Richard powering along just ahead. Mark had the worse race of everyone, a jump start meant he had a drive through penalty which he then proceeded to drive though at near race pace thus breaking the pitlane speed limit! He got a royal telling off but certainly caused some amusement down the pit lane, as with all great competitors he took it all in good humour. The next rounds are at Pembrey in Wales where everyone will be able to watch live on TV on June 27th, looks like we’ll have at least 4 more cars from the well respected Torquespeed team and even some of the fresh built E46 M3’s that the owners keep threatening to bring out, with a bit of luck Kevin will have his own E92 out as well so that will be the first time the UK has seen two E92 M3 race cars on the grid at the same time, pretty cool!
